CITY OF TOGIAK JOB ANNOUNCEMENT

POLICE OFFICER

 Under the direction of the Chief of Police, police officers Patrols streets, business establishments, residential areas, rural areas, rivers, costal areas, and other public places for the purpose of enforcing city, state and federal laws and to apprehend violators. Performs basic police investigative and enforcement duties; Responds to calls for service or through self-initiated activity; Investigates civil and criminal complaints, crimes, disturbances or other unusual circumstances; Apprehends, pursues, restrains, detains suspects and violators; Makes arrests and transports prisoners; Testifies in court in civil and criminal cases; Prepares reports of investigations, activities, conditions dangerous to the public, and unusual circumstances; Assists other law enforcement agencies; Completes special duty assignments, such as public speaking, conducting search and rescue operations, participating in marine patrol operations, conduct drug and alcohol interdictions, and basic firefighting.

REQUIREMENTS:

High school graduation or possession of a GED certificate; AND At least 21 years of age by date of appointment; AND A valid Alaska Driver’s License by date of appointment; AND Ability to type at a rate of 35 net words per minute with not more than 6 errors. Must be able to pass an extensive background investigation. Must be Alaska Police Standards Council (APSC) Certified or able to be certified within 12 months of hire. Must meet all APSC requirements for employment of Police Officers. Must have graduated from a recognized police academy within the State of Alaska. Applicants with military and / or law enforcement experience preferred.

 WAGE: $17.00 per hour

 TERM: PERMANENT FULL TIME OVER 120 DAYS (May be made permanent, full-time). This position will be on a two week work rotation on and two weeks off. The City of Togiak will provide transportation to and from Anchorage, Alaska.
